How much will it cost?
We will explain at the beginning of a case how much we think it will cost you and whether what is at stake justifies the liikely the expense.
Do you do "No Win No Fee"?
This may be possible in commercial litigation matters subject to a full appraisal of your case.
Will I get my money back?
If you are successful in a claim that is worth more than £5,000 you should recover a large proportion of your costs. For sums below £5,000 litigation can be very expensive and careful consideration is needed before issuing Court Proceedings in these cases.
How can I save costs?
Consult us early to have a clear explanation of your position. Consider taking out legal expenses insurance to cover you in the event that you need to take or defend Court Proceedings.
What are disbursements?
Fees or expenses incurred by solicitors on behalf of a client in pursuing a case e.g. barrister's fees, medical expert fees, court fees etc.
When can I see you?
At a time convenient to you either at our office or at your work or home. Please contact us to make an appointment.
What do I need to bring with me for my meeting?
All papers you have in connection with the matter concerning you.
How long does it take?
It is not easy to predict the length of time a case will take. Several aspects of the proceedings may be beyond our control. However, we will keep you up-to-date as to what is happening and when. Whatever happens, our aim is to resolve matters as quickly as possible.
Have I got a case?
Only after an initial meeting and a thorough understanding of your situation can we advise on this. Please contact us to arrange a convenient time to meet.
Who's going to deal with my case?
We will decide upon the most suitable member of the team when we evaluate the complexity of your problem, and we will discuss with you who would be best to deal with your case and how to contact their support staff.
Do I need a solicitor?
Once we know the circumstances of the case, we will be able to advise you as to whether a solicitor is necessary and/or the most cost effective option to solve your problem. Either way, it will be your interests, situation and needs that will guide us as to the most appropriate way forward.
Will you fight my case for me?
Following a careful review of your case and a discussion with you, we will advise you fully of your prospects of success and the methods available to you to fund the litigation. Assuming that you have a case and that it is felt that a solicitor is the most appropriate option to resolve the issue, support from your solicitor is guaranteed.
Will it go to Court? (Arbitration/ADR)
This will depend on the case. The courts are very anxious to see cases referred to Mediation where possible and this is one dispute resolution technique that we will consider with you - both sides have to agree to mediate.
What happens at Court?
If a case gets to court, we will ensure that you are represented by a solicitor or a barrister. You will be fully supported and all procedures will be explained to you.
Why does it take such a long time to achieve a result?
There are many reasons why litigation can seem to take a long time. The need to gather all information, the instruction of experts and the court process itself can take up a lot of time. We will do all we can to speed up the process and to achieve a favourable result for you as swiftly as possible.
Can I do some of it myself?
You can certainly assist us in the collection of all documents relevant to the case, by providing us with full instructions and responding promptly to us. We will not undertake work that is not necessary for the best outcome in your case.
