How does it work?

Upon receipt of your file of papers the following approach is offered in respect of your costs.

A formal bill of costs will be prepared on all matters within 14 working days of receipt of your file and sent to you to check, sign and return.

If the Matter was Litigated…

The signed/certified bill of costs is served immediately with Notice of Commencement of Assessment of Bill of Costs.

Claimant’s replies will be prepared within 7 working days on receipt of the defendant’s points of dispute. Negotiations will be pursued and if agreement cannot be reached a detailed assessment hearing will be requested.

If the Matter was not Litigated…

The bill is first served with a strict deadline requiring the paying party to make a reasonable offer within 21 days.

If costs are not agreed within 21 days, part 8 costs-only proceedings are prepared and issued.

In both cases, all work is undertaken by us to progress the matter to a detailed assessment as quickly as possible in the event that costs are not agreed.

In all cases, we will secure the paying party’s agreement to payment of costs to be received within 14 days.
