care homes

Nash & Co acts for a wide range of businesses and individuals in the care home sector which has become an important sector for us.

With an ageing population and heightened awareness of health issues centred around learning disabilities care homes have grown in prominence over the last 10 to 15 years. Many local authorities have sought to outsource their care obligations to privately owned businesses in this sector and so there has been opportunity for growth. We recognise however that there is continued and pronounced pressure on the deliverability of care services at affordable rates and consequently our clients are becoming more cost conscious.

We regularly advise on property and corporate restructuring, refinancing, new build constructions, consultancy arrangements, employment and compliance issues. Additionally we act for many service users and have an experienced team in dealing with individuals who are losing or lack capacity and/or have a physical disability.  We are empathetic when working with families who are supporting a loved one as we understand that this is a distressing time for them.

What we do:

We recognise that prompt action and quick response times are important to our clients, particularly in an industry which is burdened by complex legislation which is unique to this sector. Our lawyers aim to be accessible to our clients and all maintain direct dial telephone numbers. You will be assigned a principal point of contact, usually a partner or senior solicitor, whose role will be to manage the relationship.

Ultimately we aim to protect our clients from unnecessary risk and offer complex legal solutions and pragmatic commercial advice to resolve client issues posed to us.

Our recent experience includes:

  • Acting for Ryde House Care Group Limited in the corporate and property re-structure and re-finance of 5 care homes for persons with learning disabilities on the Isle of Wight.
  • On-going employment and HR support for Ryde House Care Group Limited
  • On-going employment and HR support for three care homes in Plymouth and Cornwall plus a domiciliary care provider;
  • On-going employment and HR support for Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and a further elderly disabled charity.

‘The level of service that we have received from Nash & Co is exemplary, all of our work with them has been executed remotely due to the fact that their base is Plymouth and ours is the Isle of Wight. This has not held up the process in anyway we have effectively collaborated in real-time; making them a firm for 21st century businesses.  Their knowledge is exceptional and they presented a one-stop shop for the purposes of our recently completed project.  It is likely, given the diversity of specialism that they have in house, that Nash & Co will also fulfil our future requirements. Given the complexity of our project I feel that Nash & Co fees were good value for money.”

Sue Bodenham CFO Ryde House Care Group Limited (March 2015)

“Put very simply, Ian saved our business and ensured that we can continue to care for vulnerable people. I approached him at an extremely delicate time when we were faced with administration and had been let down badly by our former solicitor. His level of service was extraordinary, guiding us through a very difficult situation, managing our expectations and securing a settlement in our favour that provides security, stability and enables us to build for the future. If you are experiencing a commercial difficulty I strongly suggest you speak to Ian, I can’t recommend him highly enough.”
