Nash & Co Solicitors held their Annual Charity Auction at the “Nash Bash” which took place at their Plymouth HQ on Friday 16 December. The event was attended by more than 100 members of the Plymouth & Exeter business communities – contacts and clients of Nash & Co – who were invited to soak up some festive cheer and raise money for a local charity in the process.
This year the nominated charity was the Early Bird Diabetes Trust, based at Derriford Hospital, who need money to fund a long-term study into the effects of diabetes. Nash & Co’s friends dug deep to raise the sum of £1,500 for the Early Birds whose study involves the monitoring of some 300 local children from school entry to the age of 16. Each child requires a 6 monthly health check and monitoring of their lifestyle, in order to try to gain an insight into why some people develop diabetes – the ultimate aim being, to help prevent the disease. Dr Linda Voss explained “This is a long-term study lasting 12 years to look into the causes of diabetes and therefore its outcome will have worldwide implications into the understanding of the disease – which is rapidly becoming one of the western world’s biggest killers.”
The lots auctioned included a theatre trip, a Plymouth Albion shirt signed by the Team, a golf day, a dinner for two a, a festive hamper and a magnum of champagne as well as a chance to spend a day finding out what it’s like to work as a stockbroker. The lots were kindly donated by the Theatre Royal, Plymouth Albion Rugby Club, John Steven of Wakeham Securities, Gerrards Limited and Lang & Co whilst Latimer Trend assisted with the production of leatflets for the Trust.
Sharon Walker of Nash & Co said “The Nash Bash is an annual event in the local business calendar and we are delighted that our colleagues are so generous to our local causes. We would like to thank everyone who donated, attended the event and bought lots this year.”
