Nash & Co, the well-respected Plymouth-based firm of solicitors, became a Limited Liability Partnership on 1 May 2007. The firm, which has enjoyed steady growth and expansion over the past few years and which celebrated its 80th Anniversary in 2006, sees the transfer as the next natural stage in its development. As Guy Walker, the firm’s senior partner, explains “LLP is a modern way of operating without losing our partnership heritage which has served us well for many years. We want to grow our business for the benefit of our clients and our staff and a corporate structure is more transparent, affords less personal risk and will help us to attract, retain and develop talented people.
“As an employer, LLP status allows us to be more dynamic and meet the changing needs of our profession. It is becoming the preferred structure for many leading professional service firms”.
The firm’s seven partners, Practice Chief Executive and around 70 professional and support staff work together to enhance Nash & Co's excellent reputation for building strong client relationships as well as developing the firm's specialist services.
It’s not surprising that Nash & Co has decided to join the growing number of professional service firms that are adopting LLP status, as it is one of the region’s fastest growing law firms experiencing rapid growth in the past decade.
Guy, who is also a director and deputy vice chairman of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, was made senior partner of Nash & Co in 1994. The Practice has more than doubled since then. New departments and disciplines have been introduced. The firm has attained Lexcel (the Law Society's quality assurance standard) and Investors in People accreditation.
The firm occupies one of the most attractive buildings in Plymouth, Beaumont House, a listed Georgian mansion, standing in attractive parkland, which is a perfect environment for this growing law firm and enjoys the rare advantage of its own parking.
Guy explains the continued vision for Nash & Co “The philosophy of the founder of our firm, David Nash, was to be an excellent advocate for clients and build on the firm's reputation and that is still our aim for the firm today. The legal teams and support staff at Nash & Co are proud of the firm. That pride in the firm enables us to maintain high standards in all areas of the business. We are now a law firm that is of a sufficient size with the strength and depth of expertise needed to play a significant part in the City of Plymouth and the South West peninsula, able to support the needs of both business and personal clients.
“We have a wide range of skills in our commercial team with the ability to support business clients in matters of litigation, company and commercial matters, property and employment. Our Personal Client team has expanded into specialist areas too. We have highly experienced solicitors in the areas of wills, trusts and probate, residential property, family and personal injury.”
