Jeremy is the Partner in charge of the Private Client department. He joined Nash & Co in 1977 having qualified as a solicitor in 1979 and then became a Partner in 1981.
Born and bred in South West Devon, Jeremy has always lived in the County except for University and a very brief period in London immediately after graduating. Jeremy had wanted to be a Social Worker but soon had that idea removed from his list of ambitions by a very tough job in Notting Hill.
Jeremy believes in an holistic approach to his client's needs. He explains "The fact that we live longer doesn’t necessarily make life easier for ourselves or those around us. All members of a family, which often has four generations these days, may need advice on a number of aspects to help them plan for all their futures."
Since returning from University, Jeremy has lived in the Plymouth area for the last 35 years, and his children all attended local schools. His particular hobbies and interests are T’ai Chi and Buddhist thought and its application in relation to meditation practice. He also enjoys walking in the Devon countryside both on the Moors, on the coasts and in the lowland countryside both alone and with his wife and friends.
Areas of Specialism
Residential Conveyancing - especially high value conveyancing of larger, individual properties.
Property Work – non-conveyancing professional work dealing with land and property such as rights of way, easements, splitting up property. Registering land voluntarily on larger scale land holdings and dealing with issues where land is not technically on the deeds but has been squatted on and needs to be registered in any event to protect the current occupiers interests.
Development Land - including preparing land for development and purchasing for Developers.
Agricultural Land - including Farm Business Tenancies, buying and selling agricultural land and dealing with quotas and single farm payments, transfers and also splitting up of land either for family business planning purposes or asset realisation.
Wills - for his full range of clients of all types; these can be especially tailored to individual purposes.
Enduring Powers of Attorney - together with Wills, Jeremy sees these as a “pensioner’s package” as all clients should have these but especially those of pensionable age along with their Wills as the two form a seamless time continuum in planning the future for personal clients. We hope they are never needed (unlike Wills which will always be needed in due course) but if they are they can save clients and their estates and their relatives a huge amount of trouble, anxiety and, most importantly, money.
General Private Client Work - helping clients with difficult decisions which, while they may have a legal aspect, often are better dealt with in a wider context of the clients particular approach to life and needs at particular stage in life he, she or they have reached. These can deal with matters relating to one’s family, either children or parents or wider family; also matters relating to planning ones property needs for the future, business needs for the future and other important life decisions.
