Austin Blackburn

Partner
Commercial Property

Austin joined Nash & Co in September 2005 from a large regional firm in East Anglia, where he had practiced as a commercial solicitor for many years. Austin is very experienced in Company & Commercial Law especially contract work, business sales, acquisitions, reorganisations, intellectual property, shareholder and director rights & responsibilities. He relocated to the South West to be nearer relatives and for the quality of life especially for his family.

When asked why Austin prefers Commercial Law, he said “I enjoy the challenges of dealing with the variety and often complex legal situations that arise in commercial transactions and I value maintaining a close working relationship with the management and ownership of my business clients both large and small.” He maintains strong skills in a wide range of legal issues relevant to the commercial sector and has a pragmatic approach to dealing with his client’s needs.

Austin was made a Partner in May 2006 and a member of the LLP in May 2010. He qualified in October 1998 and has a postgraduate diploma in Intellectual Property Law.

Responsive, proactive and extremely capable’, the corporate lawyers at Nash & Co provide ‘excellent commercial advice in language that is easy for clients to understand’. The firm significantly enhanced its corporate capabilities in 2017 with the hires Tim Jackman (‘a driven and passionate deal-maker’) and associate Duncan White, both of whom joined from the legal team at media company Twofour Group, and had previously worked together at Bond Pearce. Given the pair’s pedigree, the team has unique experience of commercial matters in the media and telecoms sectors. Acting across from two multinational law firms, Jackman and White assisted Patrick Corporate Investment with its sale of Quickstore Storage to Big Yellow, in a transaction that required a complex pre-sale restructuring. The ‘responsive and relatable’ Austin Blackburn has been involved in a number of corporate restructurings and has particular expertise in IP law.

“RSD Recruitment was looking to let a commercial property within Plymouth City Centre or near to it. Once we found the right location & office we were recommended to use Austin at Nash & Co to formalise & engage our lease.

I am so pleased we did as not everything was straight forward as it was a sub let. Austin however was there every step of the way, advising, meeting us & doing everything within his power to ensure we could move in on our target date, which was a challenge to say the least!

We found Nash & co polite, easy to deal with & gave such honest advice for a fair price. We @ RSD Recruitment wouldn’t hesitate to use Austin or Nash & Co again for any of our up & coming legal work. Without them I am sure we would have missed our target date which would of cost us a lot of money and lost revenue. Thanks to Austin & the team for a great experience at a tough time. “
