Eleanor Barber

I joined Nash & Co in December 2015 and I will be totally honest, before I attended the interview, I didn’t feel Nash & Co was going to be right for me, but my agent persuaded me to attend.

I had spent the majority of my early career at one of the largest law firms in the South West and then moved to a smaller multi-office regional firm. Neither environment felt right to me. The big firm was so large that one year I walked in, and walked out, of the Christmas party because I incorrectly thought I was in the wrong place as I couldn’t recognise a single person! I felt anonymous in such a large organisation.

The small multi-office regional firm had more office politics than Westminster!

Despite my scepticism, I attended the interview and from the moment Managing Partner, Jon Loney, described his vision for the firm, I was hooked. I knew that this was the place for me. I was right and I have never looked back.

Nash is a place where hard work and excellence are recognised and rewarded. Since being at Nash,  I have been promoted, firstly to Team Leader and then to Partner. Jon has a policy of recruiting great lawyers and then giving them the freedom to develop their career and practice as they see fit. I feel privileged to be one of those he has chosen.

As Team Leader,  I am incredibly proud of my team, which in 2018 was the only Family Law team in Plymouth to be ranked in both the Chambers and Legal 500 directories. I believe that this success is directly attributable to having great lawyers, working supportively together to achieve a great working environment, excellent client service and allowing for personal career development and aspirations.

If you want your hard work and legal excellence to be recognised and rewarded by a firm that is on track to set the standard by which all other local law firms will be judged, come to Nash & Co, you’ll never look back!
