Family Care Team
I graduated in 2015 with a 2:1 LLB Law (Hons) from the University of Plymouth. I knew before I graduated that I wanted to pursue a career in family law. Since University, I have been a Paralegal specialising in public law care proceedings, this is an area not covered in depth in the Family Law syllabus at University and therefore my knowledge has been developed over time and my work is influenced heavily by the professionals around me and the guidance of my supervisor and team leader, Helen Bull. As a Paralegal at Nash & Co, I assist the Solicitors in my team with the day to day running of matters. I am often a first point of contact for clients as Solicitors in the team are often at Court. I assist the team in a variety of Child Protection matters including Pre-Proceedings meetings, Emergency Protection Orders, Supervision and Care Proceedings and Secure Accommodation Orders. These are complex matters that require an acute understanding of the law and the law in practice. Due to the sensitivity of the cases that I deal with, it is imperative that I am able to deliver excellent client care and to have the ability to talk to clients about the law in plain English.
At Nash & Co I am able to develop my professional skills and liaise with both clients and other professionals to enhance my knowledge. I chose Nash & Co because I knew it was a firm that truly cared about its staff and supporting their development. The size of the firm is not too big, but not too small. I do not feel lost in a sea of numbers as I have done in my previous employment. I feel that my individual needs and professional development is cared for by those around me which in turn, improves my work ethic and I continue to strive to do a better job. Due to the vast knowledge held by my colleagues, I am never afraid to ask questions or quiz them about a case or decisions made by the Court as I know that they will find the time to help me and answer any questions I might have, to enhance my knowledge.
