I graduated from Plymouth University with a First Class Honours in Law in 2017. During my time at University I was involved in a service where students would provide free information and guidance to persons needing legal help with divorce and child arrangements. From this experience, I knew I wanted to become a solicitor as I enjoyed meeting and helping clients through problem solving.
I joined the Nash & Co Residential Conveyancing team shortly after finishing my undergraduate degree. Whilst working, I completed the Legal Practice Course and obtained a Masters degree in Legal Practice with a Distinction grade in each qualification. Nash & Co allowed me to work on a part-time basis whilst I attended University and progressed my career. Without this support, I would not have been able to complete my studies within one year, nor would I have the practical legal experience to assist with the Legal Practice Course.
After completing the Legal Practice Course, Nash & Co offered me the position of Trainee Solicitor within the firm. I was extremely proud to accept this role, as it is difficult to find a local firm who will offer a training contract. Nash & Co also asked me the areas of Law I was interested in, so they could tailor the training contract to my needs. I have recently completed my first training seat in the Wills and Probate team, I am now in Personal Injury team and I will be finishing my training in the Family Law team. After this training I will qualify as a Solicitor and I feel happy knowing that I have worked in areas during my training that I was interested in.
Throughout my training I have found that no two days are the same. I have been given extremely interesting work, for example, running client meetings, drafting wills, attending final hearings and submitting claims. I have found that every lawyer who I have worked with during my training has found interesting work to help progress my learning and future career. Working within a smaller firm, I have not been pushed into a corner and forgotten, I have found that my exposure to work has been vast. I am confident that the staff at Nash & Co are equipping me with the tools I need to become a successful solicitor.
I am extremely happy to be working at Nash & Co. Being from Plymouth, I knew that I wanted to work in a local firm. The support I received whilst working part-time to focus on my career progression and during my time as a trainee has been outstanding. I cannot recommend the career progression within Nash & Co enough.
